Nairn Old Parish is seeking to recruit an administrator to support the work of the congregation.





   Post of Church Administrator 


   The Church Administrator is the point of contact for the church office. The person provides administrative support to the Minister, the Session Clerk and the Treasurer,     as well as the leaders of the teams that are part of the congregational structure.. 


   Hours:  7.5/week to include 2.5 on Friday 

   Salary:  £13.78/hour 

   Line manager: Session Clerk 


   Job description 


   The Administrator carries out various general office tasks, many of which are weekly, others are monthly or less frequent. These include, but are not limited to: 

  • Respond to calls and messages either by phone or in person. 
  • Respond to internal and external enquiries promptly and in professional manner. 
  • Use Microsoft Office to create, edit and manage documents and spreadsheets. 
  • Maintain an organised filing system for digital and physical documents. 
  • Provide clerical support by typing correspondence, minutes and other necessary documentation. 
  • Monitoring office supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels. 
  • Support the Minister, the Session Clark, the Treasurer and other office bearers as required with various administrative tasks. For example, liaising with the Minister and Session Clerk to create and print out the weekly order of service leaflet. 
  • Liaising with organisations and individuals who wish to hire church facilities, including issuing invoices. 
  • Ensure that information about events etc is printed and displayed in the church and on the external noticeboard. 
  • Liaising with the local care homes about arrangements for their monthly service. 
  • Production of the quarterly church magazine, including preparing it for delivery by elders and pastoral care visitors and ensuring there are copies in the church leaflet racks. 
  • Print invitation cards for quarterly Communion services and prepare for distribution. 





      Person specification 


      Confident user of Microsoft Office and working with .pdf documents 

      Organised, with an ability to plan and prioritise tasks 

      The capability to work well on their own as well as part of a team. 

      Awareness of the confidential nature of much of what passes through the office 

      Knowledge of Data Protection processes. (Training will be offered) 

      The Administrator requires to understand that the work of the church is carried out mainly by volunteers and should be able to deal with sensitive situations. 

      Ability to work respectfully within our Christian ethos.
